hey the 305 in my 1991 camaro is seized up. was wondering what i should do for a budget build, removing the motor as we speak so i can tell how much damage was done. thinking bout boring it out. any ideas????
im 17 so this is kinda a budget build so nothing too crazy

 

You should 'budget build' a method of transporting it to the yard and sell it for scrap.

Seriously - I'd consider looking at craigslist for a used 350 to replace it - for what the machine work, new pistons/rings, etc. will cost you, you could get a complete used 350.

What county in NC are you in?
Is this a TPI or TBI car?

 

im in pender county. and i have a guy that will do the machining really cheap he is a friend of the family thats why i was going to reuse the block and its TBI with the quadrajet (quadrajunk)

 

OK - given the friend, might not be too bad then.

And it's just a TBI car, not Quadrajet - the Quadrajet is a carb, the TBI is a Throttle Body - not the same thing at all.

Even if it was cheap - the same machine buddy ought to have a line on a good used 350 motor for cheap - you can keep the TBI and swap in a chip from a 350 TBI car (Caprice or truck), and swap in 350 injectors and 350 knock sensor and be set. Guess it all depends if you just want it to run, or run better/faster. Also, I don't think Pender county requires emissions - you could swap to carb as well, but would be more expense.
