Aftermarket wiring harness for carbed swaps
Aftermarket wiring harness for carbed swaps
I am in the middle of stuffing a 454 into my 91 camaro and I have been looking online for a wiring harness for a carbed V8 that replaces the TPI harness. I don't really wanna start cutting up my harness as it is in good shape. I realized that there are a few things that are in the harness that I need to keep like a couple sensor wires and the wiper motor wiring. Just wondering if there is a simpler solution than wrecking my tpi harness?
Thanks.
Thanks.

the engine harness can be completely removed from the vehicle without cutting - everything on the passenger side is for the ECU. The driver side harnesses are for your guages and the rest of the body electrical, so those need to stay.
get yourself the wiring schematics from your year and you should be able to do everything you want with a couple of splices

Yep - all ECM wires on pass side harness - all standard wires on driver side harness - just leave driver side harness in tact and you'll be golden.
There might be one or two wires that connect from pass side harness to driver side harness, through the loom that runs over the rear of the motor/bellhousing. These are like the signal wire for the fuel pump relay, signal wire for the fan relay, etc. - where the ECM controls those relays that are mounted on the driver side. Just snip those and tape off ends.

A great place to start for harness info:

they didn't have everything i needed for my TA, but it got me moving in the right direction. luckily someone on the boards here had a helms manual that I jumped on. invaluable resource if you're going to dig deep into the car
