Removing a seized engine
I understand to remove a 305 V8 auto there are 2 way, engine + tranny or just engine.
If the crank is completely seized, am I limited to removing the engine with tranny because there is no way to reach the TQ bolts that have to be accessed by turning the motor ?

I'd say pull engine & transmission together. You can pull the tranny from the engine once they're out. The torque converter will stay with the engine, then you can remove it from the flexplate.

Re: Removing a seized engine
Ok so lets say I've pulled the engine and tranny together and they're sitting on the floor. How do I separate the 2? The crank will not turn to so I have no access to the flexplate/TQ bolts.
Am I going to have to cut the oil pan off, and then start ripping, tearing or torching at the rotating assembly until the flexplate can turn once more? Is there an easier way to do this?

dont cut anything..pull both out from there unbolt the bellhousing from the block ad pull the transmission on the torqu convert will still be bolted to the flywheel but your transmission will be off. from there you can get the the 3 bolts from the top side and bottom after that the torque converter will come off then unbolt the flywheel then the oil pan then take the crank out dont hack or cut anythig

You can remove the oil pan with the engine still attached to the transmission. If you like, you could remove the transmission, turn the engine over and remove the oil pan. Then unbolt the bearing caps until either the crank turns, or you can pull the crank out of the block. You could then get to the other torque converter bolts.
But, as stated, you should be able to get to the TC bolts once the transmission is away from the block.

OK, as long as trying to separate the transmission from the engine without undoing the TQ bolts does not damage the TQ.
So there are no bolts holding the TQ to the transmission then and it just pulls away sliding on the shaft?
