Quick 350 swap question.
Quick 350 swap question.
SO im "new" im the website. ive been on here many times with the third gen i owned before but now ive just mad an official account. figured why not...
pretyy much just picked up a 84 camaro. bought it as a project. as long as it wasnt rusted out and ran i pretty much was gonna take. but i kinda regret it. its kinda a mess lol it was a v6 from factory, was "sold" as a 350, but obv was a 305, it was blue now black, has all the ground effects and says Z28 all over. the car just doesnt know what it is. but on to the question. just wanted to give some background on why im so confused with the car lol
so pretty much my other third gen was fuel injected and ive NEVER owned or worked on a carbed engine, so im a little
so from my research its got a 305. had a casting number 14088551.
pretty much my question is how hard is a 350 swap. and its not the typical question i see. only reason i ask is because all i usually see is like throttle body injection. thats different then just a plain carbed engine right?
in my case would it almost be as simple as just putting in the 350 and calling it a day? the previous owner obv already put in a 305... same block as the 350. so all the mounting stuff and what not is done.
pretty sure theres no computer for the engine or anything just simple old carbed engine (correct me if im wrong...)
im pretty sure its still the stock 700r4. i finally got the car home from a friends house so ima jack it up and check it out
so am i on the right track or completely wrong?
the 305 has edelbrock intake. holley carb headers, exhaust, and possibly a cam. kinda sounds like it and i found a comp cam sticker in the car. who knows. idk how many ponies the car is pushing.
so anyone wunna chime in? yes ive searched and from everything ive seen nothing exactly answers my specific questions.

Re: Quick 350 swap question.
For the most part it's a pull-out-the-305-put-in-the-350 proposition. The details depend upon how old or new the 350 you're putting in is.
Re: Quick 350 swap question.
any suggestions as far as how old or new of a 350 i should get for ease of installation?
its funny because the kid advertised the car as "corvette 350". pretty much he got screwed when he bought the car. thats what he was told. me i couldnt care and didnt take the time to check. once i got home tho i wanted to see what we had so i did. i also asked if it was stock or had aftermarket parts on it... he said no. i opened it up and edelbrock this and holley that all over the car...
Re: Quick 350 swap question.
yeah. thats why im glad the 305 has all those goodies on it. haha should i look for anything certain. 4 bolt main 2 bolt? does it really matter? are different as in will oen or the other not bolt up to the 700r4? or is that un related

Re: Quick 350 swap question.
Mine is 2 bolt. IMO 4 bolt blocks are only needed when you reach real high horsepower numbers. Any 350 chevy talked about in this thread should bolt perfectly to a 700r4. Only the Lsx engines require different transmissions I believe.
Re: Quick 350 swap question.
alright thanks a lot. ill pick up whatever i can for the price i wunna spend. wether its a 4 bolt or 2 bolt. id like to be around the 400-450hp mark so hopefully it wont be to crazy to get there. well see.. ill be building this engine over the winter while i get the rest of the car ready for paint and interior. which im pretty much doing everything myself on the car. obv besides any machine work needed on the block and so on.
