ATK engines

After doing much searching and hearing so much negativity about Blueprint engines I did more searching....

Came accross this: http://high-performance-engines.com/...duct_Code=HP29

Has anyone had any experience with these guys?

Thanks,

Re: ATK engines

I blew up an ATK engine years ago before they started building performance engines. It blew a head gasket. Even though it might have been my fault, as the car would run hot due to a bad fan clutch, they replaced it under warranty.

Re: ATK engines

Hey Mike,

I just got a tip about this post by somone on the Chevelle forums where I often post. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have in regards to our engines. Just searching on here, a poster by the name of SPADE has this same engine and is very happy with it. For the $ and power its hard to beat this engine and its one of our top sellers. One thing we do is use the full hyd roller cam/lifters on our engine where other companies use FLAT TAPPET...keep an eye out for that.

Sorry to hear it blew up, but im glad we handled it wheter it was our fault or not . On the Performance end I can assure you that we do not skimp on parts for the intended engine purposes and they are fully balanced/blue printed. We do all our HP engines here in Grand Prairie, TX (Dallas).

Re: ATK engines

Hey Brandon,

I recently purchased a 305 TPI for my 89 IROC from you and sent in the old core for the $195. I was told you received a 305 TBI so I would not get the $195. I spoke with the mechanic who did the swap for me and he said the cores are the same, a 305 is a 305. The sales person told me over the phone today that I was probably running a 305 TBI without know it. But I had a fuel pump replaced a few years ago and remember specifically being told that the pressure on the two fuel pumps is different. I know that I am using the fuel pump for a TPI engine. Still, the salesperson said that the fuel pumps are the same. Can you please help me out?

That is a different side of the company, so I cant really help much. I can tell you this. Our core guys have a casting # database along with pictures and very good descriptions of just about every engine made. They use this for every engine that comes in. It is very common for people to have different engines than they think they do (not saying yours was or not), just from my expierience. When we get a core it HAS to be like for like to get your refund back. Alot of people try buying a 350 and send in a 305, or buy a 4 bolt and send back a 2 bolt etc etc..thinking its the same engine...sure in some sense it is, but its not. For your year car, there are 3 different 305 engines that were made....somewhere down the line, somone may have just swapped heads on the car or entire engines...

Glad to hear Mike. Like I said, let me know if I can help with anything. For the $ if you can swing it....go with the HP32. Its going to be a much nicer engine with the Hyd Roller Cam/Lifters, 1pc rear main seal and vortec heads. If you go with the Flat Tappet engines, just make sure your up to date on oils/break in proceedures...

Brandon.
