Finally able to start the swap...Insight Appreciated

First things First this is going to be my first swap..with that being said If i leave anything out or underestimate the level of difficulty with anything...let me know!!! the car is a 92 Firebird 305 TBI with a 700r4...Friday im buying a 350 out of a 92 , and the following week I will be buying the Complete TPI setup (wiring harness ,and intake) and hopefully the week after I'll be getting a T5 with a pedal assembly. Im looking into a 383 TPI 5 speed.. the car already has a posi disc rear the suspension is pretty sound. and the interior is ok..although i will be completely overhauling this beast inside, and out..with everything in hand before starting the swap approximately how long am I looking at having the whip out of commission when undergoing this swap? and is there anything elseI should know before digging in?? any info is appreciated! thanks guys!

everything depends on how skilled you are. Noone can tell you how long your "whip" is out of commission for, but you.

If the 383 has any kind of power, kiss your t5 goodbye, then kiss your replacement t5 goodbye to if you dont plan on upgrading to a t56

TPI is gonna cost you some power, TPI systems dont breath all that well in the RPM range without alot of work to do, concider upgrading your "whip" to a HSR if you want the power

lol I I forgot the 6 after the T5 haha I had been reading about that problem...but what is HSR? what about that FIRST TPI intake it looks Gigantic in comparison to a factory TPI intake..what if I port the TPI intake and runners would that help? ultimately I just want a little Torque Monster!?

Count on at least a month out of commission - themn double that to cover your @ss. The actual swapping out of the block is only a day - but it takes time to do all that rewiring (swapping to TPI), tuning, etc., and working out the bugs - and then we're swapping tranny as well ... so I personally (working 40+ hours a week) wouldn't count on the car being "driveable" for 3 months - and I'm pretty handy.
