Getting oil to top

Getting oil to top
Odd question. I realize on a fresh built it takes time to get oil to top of motor. BUT I have a 68 or 69 327 which requires the oil adapter and the old bypass where the filter goes. Could it be possible to put that bypass or the adapter in backwards and could it hault oil from reaching top?
