Hello my name is Vince. I currently built a 327 with a Big ***** Thumpr cam. (12-602-8)

Yesterday I was trying to fire her up for the first time. After moving the distributor around a few times I seemed to have stoped the backfire out of carb and mostly out of exhaust. My problem is it will not fire up. It pops like a mother and wants to start but just cant quite kick it.

I heard that on alot of these newer cams that the #7 and #4 firing orders are reversered to create more power? Not to sure, I have it on the Normal SBC firing order.

Also, Im going off tangent but im trying here, I feed the motor more gas from the carb obviously wants to fire but again it doesnt.

QUESTIONS!

What I am asking is does anyone know about this firing order mix up?

The cam also comes 5 degrees advanced. Do I need to make up for the on harmonic balancer or do I just keep the balancer at zero?


Im gonna try different carb because I beleive It might just be a fuel problem.

Anyone have any thoughts?

check your spark plugs, make sure they are in correct placement?
