Engine wiring harness

I have an 1987 iroc. That was a TPI. I'm changing it over to a carb. What if any part of the wiring harness do I have to keep in the engine compartment.? Thanks.

I would think you need a keyed 12v to your distributor a ground to your tach and temp/ fan sensor wires.

Re: Engine wiring harness

So would you think that I would be able to remove the existing wiring harness?

Re: Engine wiring harness

I would pull it out and start over with just what you need. Easier to wire up and looks alot cleaner. Plus you could sell all as a package. Have you figured on reducing fuel pressure for the carb yet?

Re: Engine wiring harness

Well i dont want to cut out the harness until it fires up and everything is working fine. Whats your thoughts on reducing the fuel pressure? Are you talking about from the fuel pump?

Re: Engine wiring harness

You will need a regulator on the line before the carb. Most carbs only need 7-9 psi and if you are going from fuel injection to carb you have to reduce the psi.
