help finding cam retrofit parts
help finding cam retrofit parts
So i have been doing my research about retrofitting a hydraulic cam. I also searched the forums and found nothing useful so figured with your help we can make a parts list of EVERYTHING that is needed for the cam swap.
#1 for starters i know you need a retrofit hydraulic roller cam
#2 retrofit Hydraulic roller lifters(t- bar style)
#3 new pushrods
#4 bigger valvesprings
#5 roller rockers
#6 a rigid timming chain cover (something like a 2 piece billet aluminun)
#7 camshaft button( optional camshaft bolt retainer)
#8 new timing chain and gears
#9 thrust bearing (sits between the camshaft and and cam gear)
#10 (optional depending on our setup) soft metal distributor drive gear if your using a stock distributor, or get a retrofit hardened distributor drive gear.
If i missed anything or any comments please put what reference part #. If any specific parts please put down the full part number and where to find it.

Re: help finding cam retrofit parts
#11 also heard about a thrust plate. Is this an aftermarket part or something that cam on a factory post-87 block? Or is it pre -87? Also heard something about cutting off the ears... this has quite stumped me

Re: help finding cam retrofit parts
Can also use a factory style roller cam ( cheaper ) with the cut down roller cam retainer plate as a spacer to fill the lip on the front of the stock roller cam.
Must use factory style roller cam timing set with this method
Valve springs need to suit lift of cam
Roller rockers optional ( not required as part of swap )
Flat tappet timing set fits retro fit style roller cam.
OEM style roller cam must use OEM style roller cam timing set
