Wires needed to run 350

Merry Christmas!!

I have searched, but dont have a clue.

I had a computer carb'd 84 with 305 and swapped in a newer 350, but want to go to a non-computer carb.

First of all, I have seen the Carb Swap posting on this site....

Can someone send me a link to a posting or maybe explain the wires I need to hook my non-computer carb'd 350? I figure the alt, battery, starter, and distributor (I already have a non-comp vacuum advance dizzy).

I also need to replace the throttle cable. (It has a length of STRING sliced into it... Really) I can just order a replacement for the original 84 carb, right?

The engine will run as long as it's grounded and you've got the power wire going to the distributor. Then it's a matter of turning the starter.

The gauges are the complication... al ot of those wires go to gauges and fuel system and headlights and so on and so forth.

Re: Wires needed to run 350

i converted my sport coupe from a 2bbl computerized v6 to a 350 non computerized basically all you have to is put the motor and tranny in and buy and hei distributor the only wires you need in your old harness are the ignition power on the coil, the tach wire on the coil, your oil pressure, sensor wire and coolant temp sensor wire and your good. just dont use a computer controlled tranny i basically just cut out all the bs thats in the bay its just in the way and makes it look bad

All you need for that is a way to control the lockup. You can do a switch or I think it's B&M that has a kit for it.

There are a number of kits to lockup the converter without the ECM. TCI make on that operates from engine vacuum, Painless Wiring also make one. B&M make one that allows you to set the speed at which lockup occurs with a ****. If you have the right valve body, the Transgo SK700 shift kit comes with a hydraulic lockup mechanism. This kit is worth putting in anyway I think, as it makes the trans work really nicely.

Or you can do it manually with a simple switch.

Thanks for the info about the transmission kits. I will refer to these when I finally get the car on the road.

Happy New Year...
