Howdy all,

Working on an 87 Trans Am with a running/driving LT1 T5 swap that I would like to redo the harness in following Pocket's thread, https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...rt-finish.html

If I want to redo the harnesses, including the Dash harness, do I need to match the year and the 3rd gen parts exactly? Can I get any 3rd gen engine + dash harness with matching transmission types and be ok? Checking around eBay shows varying years listed for compatibility. I don't know much at all about these cars, but can do the work as long as I make sure and buy the proper donors.

the wiring can and does vary by year, but anything can be repinned to what you need. just make sure that you have the wiring diagrams available for both your vehicle and the vehicle the harness came out of (http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=19 is usually a good start, but they dont have everything).
