I'm thinking of getting a engine out of a 88 iroc for a swap to put into my 86 will that be a direct fit.they are both 305 motors and i know the 88 has a touch more power and some newer style parts but my other engine is smoking some and burning really rich and dont have time to figure out what it is would rather just get a replacement til i can rebuild.Is it the same harness connectors ?ecm

 

Any power difference is not significant.

You can avoid any harness differences by simply taking your 86 TPI and putting its parts on top of the 88. AFAIK there isn't anything different but you can certainly avoid it that way, if there is.

OTOH, depending on what you do/don't swap, you may or may not fix the rich and "smoking" problem at all. Might even GET WORSE. Best to figure out WHY it's rich and "smoking" in the first place.

 

I found two of them from same seller on craigslist (local sale) one for 275 w/harness and one for 375 w/harness ecm and 700R4 does this even sound remotely correct?or just a good deal.we spoke and he said was running good.

 

305 tpi engines here in washington state, seattle area to be more precise. people are asking 700+ for tpi 130k + mile engines on cragslist for 650+ kinda crazy high prices if you ask me for one, 275 and 375 are both reasonable prices imo.

 

i agree but these have all sensors and even the tpi is intact which sells on ebay for sometimes over $500.just drop it in
