No wiring harness. Need Help ASAP
I bought an 89 Rs witht eh 2.8 V6 5spd tranny. The previous owner had done some stuff and didnt know how to fix it. I got it home and the harness that comes from the computer and goes all the way around to the C100 Bulkhead connector is missing. The Connector is there but it looks like someone has disconnected the entire engine harness and IGN and eveyrthing. The only thing in the engine compartment is the harness that goes to the headlights, turn signals etc. Im going to swap in either a Non computer controlled carbed 350 or and LS1 and I need to know what to do. I dont have a lot of experience with wiring things up but its not going to have ac or heat. Just the wipers, lights, radio, etc. But i need to know where I could get a harness. Im clueless. I only paid 500 for the car and the interior and body is in immaculate condition. Someone please help me with this and If I just use a non computer controlled 350 is there a shortcut i can take. I just want it street legal. My problem is the harness, not sure what to do or where to get another

one wire from the key to coil to turn the engine on
and one to starter to make it crank
Some way to make the fuel pump run (toggle switch ) and some way for fan to run (thermo switch )

The computer harness and the C100 harness are two different things.
If you do an LS swap, you won't need the computer harness. Everything you need for the computer goes with the LS harness. When you do an LS swap, you basically pull the ECM harness and get it out of the way.
You should be able to find a C100, either at the junk yard, eBay, or here in the Classifieds forums. Worst case is all you find is a bulkhead connector with cut-off wires sticking out of it and splice into that. Try searching in the "parts for sale" first, and if you don't find what you need, post in "parts wanted".

Apparently you posted this twice, and got an answer in each one before I realized that, so I merged them.

Re: No wiring harness. Need Help ASAP
lol thanks, the guy has the actual harness, i was able to get a hold of him , he has the wires cut about 7-8 inches from the connector so all the wires should be there, but i am clueless as to where to start and figure out where everything goes, all i want to work is really just the lights, radio, guages, and wipers, just to keep it street legal. I removed the Heater core and blower motor and everything. Also, the car is a manual, is it easier to just swap to an automatic instead of a T56 cause thats kind of out of my price range right now, And for the fuel pump im just going to put a mechanical fuel pump on the block. So can anyone help me with the wiring issue, i got the connector part for the engine side of the C100 but the wires are cut so i dont know where to start and how to run the wires for the Distributor, coils, starter, any of that

What engine are you going to install will determine how you wire it

Re: No wiring harness. Need Help ASAP
One more thing, all the wires that were over by the battery, im guessing they ran to the c100 connector to, they were removed also, so pretty much the only thing in the engine compartment is the headlight harness, brake booster and valves and steering system i.e. steering gear, steering shaft.

Re: No wiring harness. Need Help ASAP
Once you done a carb conversion wiring is no different than any reg carb car
What you need to run engine is in post # 3 above,
a wire to the coil and one to the starter
It is up to you to tell us how you plan to OPERATE the fan and fuel pump;
we don't have ESP so we can't tell you how to wire it until you tell us how you plan it

Re: No wiring harness. Need Help ASAP
I already researched. I just have a hard time with wiring. I'm going to use a mechanical fuel pump on the block and I'm going to run the electric fan to a switch in the car so I can cut it on and off when I need. . How do I get power to the fuse block to o.perate the lights and radio and things inside the car?

Re: No wiring harness. Need Help ASAP
power to the fuse box is via the C100 connector. there are 2 red wires w/ fuseable links that get hooked to the positive terminal at the starter on the stock setup. I opted to run them straight to the battery to cut down on some of the spaghetti wiring below the exhaust

Re: No wiring harness. Need Help ASAP
That will supply the power to the fuse block? What about the wires to the coil and to the starter to turn the engine over and keep it running? I'm running a Carb and mechanical fuel pump. So all I should need is starter and coil. But what about the tach. Temp guage and other guages

3rd post, follow that link. Under wiring you'll find C100 printouts.

Re: No wiring harness. Need Help ASAP
On the c100 connector, correct me if im wrong please. If im going carbed, the two big red wires provide power to the fuse block. where do they connect? starter? battery?. The big purple wire is the starter wire? and the bigger pink wire would go to the tach? Where can I get a c100 connector schematic for the 89 RS? is aw some for an 87 and a 90-92 but not the 89

No significant changes between '87 & '89.
Two large red wires connect to the battery cable at the starter. Purple is the starter solenoid wire. Pink goes to coil positive.
The gas gauge will work with either type pick-up. However, if you're using a mechanical pump mounted on the engine, you either need to power the in-tank electric pump, or drop the tank and remove it.

Re: No wiring harness. Need Help ASAP
Ok so both red wires connect to the battery cable at the starter? neither one goes to the battery? ok is there a coil negative? or do i just ground it? I just pulled the 2.8 and the t5 today Im ordering a 700r4 next week and then getting my motor and carb and the accessories I need, Sine im switching to Auto, do i need to remove the clutch pedal and if so what do i need to do ? or could i just leave it incase i wanna revert to a t56 someday?, i already removed the clutch master cyclinder and hoses going to the slave

The large red wires are connected to the battery cable, so there's nothing between them and the battery electrically.
The negative side of the coil is what triggers the spark. The ignition system makes and breaks the circuit to fire the coil.
In an '89, the coil wire is white, and connects to the negative side of the coil ("TACH" on a large cap HEI distributor). It's listed in the C100 diagram.
You don't have to remove the clutch pedal, but it would make sense to get it out of the way. I'm not familiar enough with 3rd gen manual cars to say exactly what to do.
With a TH700, you will need some means to lock up the torque converter clutch. What do you have planned for that? Also, if you use an aftermarket carb, you'll need a "geometry corrector" bracket that bolts onto the throttle arm for the TV cable connection.

i know about the geometry connecter, and I havent really thought about the torque converter lockup. I wont be using a computer at all so what would be my best option for that, Im on a budget so cheaper would be nice
