so ive searched and searched but have not come across the exact answer i need. i have a 83 dt500 w crossfire auto. i just purchased a 89 gta tpi 5 speed and i am going to be doing the complete swap. engine and trans. my main question is do i have to swap out the entire car wire harness? i will most likely use the instrument cluster from the 89 since it is electric speedo and looks better then the 83 cluster. is there anything else major that i cannot for see in the swap? i have the complete running parts car so i should have most the parts i need.

 

I'll have to admit I don't know what a "dt500" is.

You won't have to swap over the chassis stuff like lights & turn signals. It would probably be simpler to swap over the other stuff so you don't have to repin things. But, I found out the hard way that dash to rear chassis harness connectors changed between '82 & '86, so I'm sure you'll find the same issue between '83 & '89.
