no oil pressure after engine swap
no oil pressure after engine swap
i have a standard chevy small block 350 that is not getting any oil to the top end. i have been spinning the oil pump with a drill and is getting pressure out of the oil filter and the 3 holes above the cam cap, and thats about it. even when the engine was running with the valve covers off, it would slowy slowly ooz out of some of the rocker arms.
it currently has a new high flow oil pump on it and a new oil filter.
i cant think of anything els but a blockage. any ideas?

Re: no oil pressure after engine swap
Are you using a priming tool? The sbc distributor has a passage that connects the main oil feed lines in the top. The priming tool has that passage.
Heres a picture of a gutted distributor, you'll see the oil passage groove.

Yup. If you are using the 'screwdriver' trick, or a single seal tool, you won't get oil up into the heads. If using a tool, make sure it's got two 'seals', such as this Moroso tool in pic.
