Ok, there's a lot going on here, so first off you need to do HOURS of searching the forums around here. You'll find the "definitive 4.3 V6 swap" thread around, and in the other forums you'll find plenty of TPI to Carb swap info as well as TPI to TBI swap info. Its all in here, you just have to do LOTS of searching and hours of reading.

You might want to check over your 305. One look will tell you. If it has a round air cleaner like a carburetor, then its TBI. If it is already TBI it is really easy to swap between V8 and 4.3 V6 engines. Its all plug and play if you use the proper small cap HEI distributor for an 89 S-10.

If you have the TPI engine, with the long flat intake manifold and 8 fuel injectors, With a small amount of wiring changes and a new chip for the ECM, you can run your 4.3 without too much difficulty here too.

The reason I am bringing this up is because it seems you want to turbo the engine (which we have an excellent power adder forum for as well) but I can't figure out if you are trying to turbo it as carbureted, tbi, or multi port?

If your 4.3 is the newer style Vortec CPI engine, its not TPI or multiport. It is its own evil fuel system and you'll want to ditch it.

Give us some details and maybe we can help more.

Re: doing an engine swap v8 to v6 turbo need help

the engine is throttle body injected. tbi i have the computer and distributer and everything to the engine .but i want it carbed. makes everything simple
the camaro is a 89 rs, i simply want it carbed, my carb engines were always better than that tpi or tbi crap,
so what do i need? manifold carb and anything else?

The fat pink wire going to your ignition coil is the one you'll need to power up your engine. You'll have to buy something aftermarket if you want vacuum advance on the distributor. The original 4.3 V6 distributors (or other 90 degree V6 Chevy distributors) were "semi-even fire" and your 4.3 is fully even fire. Once you get an aftermarket distributor, then you need a carburetor with mechanical secondaries and a single plane intake if you are going to turbo it.

You also need to use the S-10 V8 swap motor mount brackets, but flip them around if I remember right from the stuff I read as to how to easily bolt in the 4.3 to your car. You can re-use your transmission, but you need a smaller converter to work properly.

Good luck man!
