Re: bellhousing help plz.

Why would you not use the 3rd Gen bellhousing that the factory installed ( with a 153 tooth flywheel )
No mods needed

Re: bellhousing help plz.

because i have the 168 tooth flywheel, pressure plate, clutch and bellhousing already. thats why i was curious. i have a 153 tooth flywheel but thats it and would have to buy the rest. so if i use the 168 flywheel that requires a larger bellhousing then i would have to mod the tranny tunnel?

Re: bellhousing help plz.

It'll fit. Odds are good that the bellhousing you have to fit the 168 will cause the fork to hit the floor.

(I'd go for the 153 tooth flywheel and keep the 82 bellhousing that fits it.)

There was a reason the factory used the smaller 153 tooth setup

You should elaborate on that point instead of leaving others wondering.

Is the starter pocket that much an issue on the passenger side?

Re: bellhousing help plz.

so i did some research and found out that the 82 firebird came with a 305 in either a 168 tooth or 153 tooth flywheel. depending on the engine code. H or 7 so there should be no issue at all.
