TD427 cheapskate test-fit notes

So for the sake of counter-balancing the excessive tongue-weight I'm dropping on my new custom hitch for testing that, I temporarily installed a tall-deck 427. Then I kept adding stuff to check fitment. Using '049 heads and the TD intake manifold, and '91-'95 454 valve covers, on Moroso solid mounts in my '84 T/A: I couldn't fit a Q-Jet or a Holley, but I could fit a Carter AFB, though there's NO space for ANY air filter, not even the Edelbrock foam triangle thing. The right valve cover is against the A/C box, but 30 seconds with a file fixed that. The '73 C65 LH exhaust manifold is an easy fit, and looks like it should fit as well with a standard-deck big block Chevy. This intake is iron, and uses dual thermostats. The water neck points up at maybe a 45 degree angle, but clears the hood. Tomorrow I'll try a couple of radiator hoses, and tackle the wiper motor. If the neck proves useless, then it looks possible to build a block-off plate of 1/4" steel, then use a smaller hose to the front, and a remote T-stat. It seems dumb to use a TD block for anything less than a 541, and at that point, it seems dumb to save over $400 by using this intake manifold. But using this LH exhaust manifold doesn't look so dumb.
