Everything i Need Except my Bellhousing
I read the https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...swap-read.html (which says read first) so i don't make a fool of myself. anyhow, I have an 85 Camaro, original 2.8 automatic. I intend to put my SB 350 with a t5 world class transmission up to it. problem is, jegs and a few other people tell me theres nothing to mount them together, the bolt holes are different apparently. BUT i hear about it being done all the time. the t5 i have is from an original v6 camaro. so. anyone know where i can get the appropriate clutch disk, pressure plate, and bell housing??
PS. my sb 350 has a 2.5" crankshaft, not a 2 inch. does anyone know what that means? i'm not too wise on engines and their internals.
Jegs said the t5 from another v8 has the proper bolt pattern, but the v6 t5 is a little different, so theres apparently none out there is what they're saying. apart from a very expensive custom made one. i believe otherwise though

Re: Everything i Need Except my Bellhousing
The trans will bolt to a chevy f body V8 bellhousing but what year is the tranny? Also the problem you have is the input shaft is about 1/2 " too long. Need a special clutch disc. (astro van?)
If the tranny is from 93 up I am not sure it can be used.
As I have not actually checked I am trying to tell from memory but I believe others have cut the input shaft shorter. It still leaves the gear ratios that are poor for a V8 and still a overall weak transmission to put behind a 350.
Look in the transmission section and search threads there for more info.
It can be done but is not recommended.
Nearly everyone would recommend a V8 T5 (still weak) or the much stronger 93-97 T56 6 speed from LT1 Camaro or Firebird. As I am older and do not hotrod I feel a T5 would hold up for me but I bought a T56 for my 350 swap when I get ready.
