Car: 1992 firebird vert
Engine: 355 soon to be a 406
Transmission: 700r4 goin t5 then t56
Axle/Gears: 373 or 410
need help tbi to carb
ok switch to carb and now i have a question my 92 vert has the chip in the key will it stop the car from starting or cranking with the ecm unhooked or will it make any difference also going auto to t5 motor wont turn over with key but could jump it so i know my starter is good
any info is appreciated

Quick answer: Yes.
Go to the thirdgen.org homepage. On the left are various links, one to tech articles. In that link are a couple of articles about VATS. You need to bypass VATS.
You also need to change the neutral safety switch on the auto shifter to a clutch safety switch on the pedal.

You should only need to bypass the starter relay under the driver kick panel for the VATS. It might work without bypassing but I am not that familiar with it to know.
If wired properly it will then start and run with the exception of the neutral safety switch wiring. In the T56 swap sticky there is good pics etc showing how to deal with the auto to manual wiring.
