Swapping in a L05 W/ Tpi while I gather up 5.3 Parts...

Like the tittle says, A buddy has a L05 for cheap with a TPI top end and the motor ran great in his 89 T/A. I am thinking of just buying it off him and using a spare 700r4 I have laying around and get my 86 on the road again and take my time on gather parts for my 5.3 swap.

So what are some good upgrades to do while I have it on the stand? Its got the swirl port 191s. The TPI system is basically stock and is a 89 Maf if your wondering. This combo pulled pretty good on the low end on the street.

Right now I plan to replace the rear main seal, fresh set of gaskets and a clean up. Would the smart thing to do is just doing this and leave it alone and drive it and continue to focus on the 5.3 swap?

I have a spare 97 LT1 cam on the shelf, LT4 hot cam and 981-16 springs I never used on the shelf as well. I am all for giving a shot to porting the TPI and heads themselfs, I have free time now since I am job hunting.
