I have the garage now its time to build the car
So its time to start my build thread. I just bought my first house and it has the garage I need to get my 92 rs were I want it to be. Just turned in the plate. This will be a long term build. I am starting with a pretty much stock 92 rs v6 coupe. I might be getting my hands on a 84 vette so I can use the block and trany for my car. I want to build a 383 that is super stong so I will try to get the vette motor and turn it into a 4 bolt. later on if I want to add power the motor will be ready.
Couple questions.
1. I plan on going carbed so can I add a root style super charger later.
2. What parts can I use off the vette.
3. Super charger or turbo?
4. Go with vette engine or try to find one and build it.
5. Ultimate goal not at first but down the road sub 11 sec car that it still streetable (has to have ac for the wifey).
This will be a slow moving build between money and time its gonna take awhile.
I hope to get a parts list together so I can start collecting. I would be grateful for Ideas.
First off stroker kit?
What type of ignition should I use.
Things of the nature.
Thanks Theo

Before you get too far ahead of yourself. The hidden costs that no one ever accounts for is the tools and equipment you have and how that effects the end product you build. Dreams are built having that well in hand. Become a faithful surfer of your local C/L's tool section. Things that you thought you could never afford are there.

I would part the vet out or just scrap it to buy some tools if you don't have many.
Not much worth saving off that, there are a few parts but not much you want..
Id use a vortec truck block thats already a 4bolt main and one piece seal with waay better flowing heads.
If your really wanting a supercharger, Id use a aftermarket block. Esp if your planning big hp numbers.
Make a budget, a build plan and stick to it or it'll get outa hand real fast.

So, basically with your power goals, and et goals, an LS1 with a cam will do it, and your wife will be happy because you'll be able to have a/c easily, as well as reliable performance.

Thabk for all the repplies.
As for tools been buying them since I was 15 and now being 28 and having work in the audio and security biz I have alot. Even cherry picker and stand.
Truck motor is a good idea.
From what I have read if you take a 2 bolt the have a machine shop put splayed four bolt is the stongest.
One thing I did not metion I want to go carbed can a Ls1 do that?
Thanks guys try to get some befor pics up in the next week or so.

It really all depends on how much power your wanting!
I'm not real sure how strong the 84 blocks are and I'm guessing, not very.
turbo LS is also a good idea!

Re: I have the garage now its time to build the car
LOL i agree!!!! I havent researched too much with the ls conversions but im imagining the vortech engines (or any crate 350) is an easier way out of the v6
ill be keeping an eye out on craigslist orlando
after researching site looks like not too many vette parts swap over
glad to see ur starting the transformation...especially since it was ur first car!!! (ill be following thread!!!)

If you do think about the 383 option, consider those package"deals" are deals solely because included in them is weak links.I think to put together your parts to build a 383 is by far long term is in your best interest. Buy a good crank, rods, pistons, separately.
