Static timing

I'm swapping out the lame 305 TBI in my 91 RS with a 330hp Vortec 350. I am keeping the TBI and have upgraded to an EBL. Should I set the static timing at 0 or try a couple degrees? I've read to advance the timing but can't figure out if I should do the static or adj it in the EBL? Let me know what you've done and how it worked.

Do you mean "static" as in setting the distributor in the hole before firing it up, or the base timing with the engine running and EST wire disconnected using a timing light?

Re: Static timing

I am sorry for the confusion. Yes I mean when I first start up the car and set the timing to 0 with out the computer hooked up. Static timing no advance. I have read to set it at 2 maybe even higher I just don't know when they were referring to. Or should I even play with this at all the computer takes care of it all.
I am installing a Vortec 330hp 350 in my 91 RS in place of the 305. I am keeping the TBI but am going with all performance parts. I have done the research for the swap so all the nessory stuff has been swapped. I am going with an EBL system I bought from and so far are very happy with from Rbob. He has been very pashionte with me even though I have asked some real stupid questions and I have plenty more.
