do i really have to get another starter?!?!?!
ok on my 88 trans am i have a 350 i put in it and i had a set of smogg ebay headers on it.well i came across a set of headmen shortys in a 90 camaro at the junk yard so i picked them up for really cheap.i had no problem getting them out at all but when i got home and tried to switch them out the pass side wouldnt go in the least little bit. so i jacked the motor up a tad thinking they just need some clearence to go in the right way.it worked. they went into place but wouldnt line up on the heads just right unless i pushed the header up against the block with all my might. reminder the driver side header went on and bolted up no problem.but the passanger side is the no fun zone side. those damn things sit right on the tip of the starter solenoid bolt.now my question is do i have have to buy a mini starter so there not touching any more and burning out my starter every other time i drive the car?i did notice when i got home that the headers were double gasketed and im not sure why but im thinking it had some thing to do with why they were in a junk yard in the first place. what should i do buy a new starter or new headers am i doing some thing wrong?is double gaskets okay?whats the deal with this side of the headers any one else have this problem running the headmen shortys?very aggravating i want to drive my car

With Headers you are going to have starter & header fitment problems. I have had the same experience with my SLP headers. So you cannot use the stock starte, I went with a minni and later with a LT-1 starter. My opinion is the LT-1 starter is the way to go,
