How long does it take?

I have a 305tpi and am switching to a 350tpi that I'm buying from Hawks Third gen. I don't really have the time or experience to do the swap myself so I'm going to have to bring it to a shop and get them to do it for me. With this in mind, how long on average does it take to do the swap? and do you think it would be expensive to get a shop to do it for me?

Re: How long does it take?

This forum is, in general, populated by "do-ers", not for "pay-ers". So most of us here have not the vaguest clue about "shop" and "mechanic" and "have done for me" and other Vette owner and little-sister talk like that.

That said, I've done similar motor swaps in an afternoon.

Of course, I already knew EXACTLY what I was going to do, before I started, which might not apply quite so much to a "shop".

Since 305 -> 350 isn't really a "swap", being as how they're IDENTICAL on the outside, I'd expect a shop to quote about 20 hrs labor, project about 16, and actually take about 8. Labor is usually around $75 - 80 / hr for anybody you'd allow to touch your car. You can do the math from there.
