trans help needed for swap

i bought a 93 4l60e before i read that my 2002 obd2 swap cant use the electronics side. i think i read thru the yrs that if you change a few solenoids and leave the pwm solenoid in the pan that it would play nice. do i have to change the valvebody? i just wanna finally put this new drive train in so i need to know what to buy for the budget.... the 93 was bench rebuilt 10,000 miles before i bought it. thats why im trying to use this one.

i know i posted in the transmission section. do i have to delete that one or can a mod remove it plz?

Re: trans help needed for swap

A 93 should be the 4L60 which was just a different title for the most part on the 700R4, the 94 got the 4L60E which would have issues with having shift solenoids etc.

Is it an E or a non E ?

Re: trans help needed for swap

its an e. from a 93 c1500. tail shaft is the same as the one from the 700r til 95. ive seen a few postings over the last few yrs but cant find them now.

i have a 2002 express motor and electronics just no trans was included. the vortechs were sold in favor of my afr's. so im using tpi for now at least. if i really gotta unload this trans and not use it i may hold off this swap for yet another yr cause the deal i got it for was ridiculous.

Re: trans help needed for swap

Focus for the moment on 2 things: what you have now, and what you want to end up with.

Now that you've cut through the intellectual fog about "what's different", consider that all that matters is, you have this thing you CAN'T use now, you want to end up with a thing you CAN use, and you want to know how to get there.

Introduce into this nice neat logical package you have now simplified the choice down to, the element of "risk". For all you (or I) know, you could be buying solenoids, wiring, valve bodies, and Lord only knows what all else, from now til the cows come home (i.e. FOREVER), and STILL not have a working transmission.

Add to this, that in the white space all around that last paragraph, you told us that you're not in a hurry. Meaning, you can hang around and wait for ANOTHER smokin deal to pop up. As they always seem to except mostly when we're not looking for them in a hurry.

Simplest answer is, sell the thing you CAN'T use; use the money you get as a down payment on the thing you CAN use; and dodge all that other crap in the middle including the (mods, please don't ban me for using foul obscene four-letter words that end with the letter "k") RISK and WORK.

Re: trans help needed for swap

lol. i feared that so i looked around awhile. found a mildly used 98 trans {which will play nice} for a decent price. ive taken my time with this build as i have certain criteria i wanted to meet and i have. not looking for the omg factor. just "waking" up my formula. i wasnt gonna go with the 411 pcm swap but since so many on here have had luck i ditched the black box i was gonna use. well thanks for the advice sofa. i dont wanna risk doing the swap then being stuck on the side of the road. lol. only risk im worried about.
