Want to swap my LG4 to a 350....what do I look for...??
So I got my slow 84 z28 with a LG4 engine in it...so far the only real mod i got on it are hooker 2055 headers with 3" piping....but ive realized that ima spend much more $$ trying to make this thing perform rather than just dumping a 350 into it........I know you c an sometimes get a deal on CL on engine...but I am really not sure on what too look for because there are a lot of 350 engine out there...how do i know what fits into mine...?thanks!

I would look for an '88-up short block and either put your 305 heads on it or find some aftermarket heads. Roller lifter cam is better than flat. You will need a 153 tooth one-piece RMS flexplate, otherwise it will fit. "CA" means use the LG4 carb et al.

And of course, when you swap it, make sure every piece of "accessory" equipment on the original engine - emphasis on EVERY - is installed on the 350. That means, every sensor, every solenoid, every hose, every wire, every tube, every connector, EVERY THING. Any piece that is changed (intake manifold or headers for example) MUST accommodate EVERY piece of that stuff that the car came with. Headers must have AIR ports which must be hooked up and working; intake must have EGR; etc. The last thing you want to do, is to call attention to anything being "different" or "questionable" when you visit the inspection station. Obviously without that, no license plate is possible, therefore no driving the car.
Don't make the mistake of "thinking" you can "fool" the inspector, or "talk them into" accepting something that varies; and don't make the mistake of hacking the car to bits and thinking you can "slap it back together just for inspection". It never works out that way. That 2-year window rolls around ALOT sooner than it feels like right now, and that stuff is ALOT LOT HARDER to put back on and get working right, than it is to hack off.

Well, the OP doesn't live there... she lives in CA. Oxnard and San Marcos specifically according to her profile, which I used to live right down the street from San Marcos myself. She's gotta successfully handle that aspect of reality or suffer the consequences. (namely, an expensive permanent driveway ornament)
