Options. 350 or 400 with lt1 intake

I have a few options open to me and I'm lookin for some others imput.
I have a 96 vortec with lt1 rods and pistons
Also have a fresh 400sbc.

The heads on both will be 67cc dart S/R fully ported and polished with a vj.
The cam will be small( 21x,22x and around 450 lift)
Lt1 intake or tricked out tpi setup?

Car is a auto with bw 9 bolt 3:27 gears.

Which combo seems to be the best with the given parts? I know the 400 with the tpi is a torque beast not sure about it with the lt1 intake.

Can we assume either option would run a TPI ECM? If so, what year/type?

The Vortec engine probably has the superior block casting. However, it's hard to leave displacement on the table.

Also, it would be nice to know the intended use of the finished product. Daily driver? Weekend cruiser? I assume not a weekend drag racer, but don't want to be presumptuous.

Sounds like you're going more for low-RPM operation. The 350 with TPI should be a good driver combo. If you're thinking drag strip, then the 400 with Stealth Ram (and maybe more cam) would be the ticket.

Stock tpi ecm( with new chip ofcourse) 87 formula 350 is the car. It will be my daily. The 400 is a 4 bolt main high nickle block.

Both require work and / or $$$
The HSR as previously mentioned gives the best of both worlds at a cheaper price and is available in a Vortec
version that is a bolt swap.
The Vortec TPI base you require is nearly $500 on it's own

before buying the big tube runners , etc

LT1 is dirt cheap if you can do the mods (welding ) yourself but requires a remote thermo housing
and rework of the radiator hoses that the other two intakes don't

Vortec HSR is $540 for complete intake

There are extra costs in plumbing the fuel lines up to a HSR but you will incur them with a LT1 intake swap anyway

Read this to see the differences in intake styles
http://xtremecarzone.com.au/index.php?showtopic=386

Don't look at the Hp numbers , look at the graphs to see were each intake works and where it runs out of puff.
LT1 is similar to the Miniram in the comparison
