89 lb9 to l98 cam question
Hello all.
I have an 89 formula with the lb9, 5speed, 3.45 bw axle, g92, n10 dual cats etc. with a hurt motor.
I have sourced a low mileage l98 from a gta and would like to slip that in (easy) but i would like to pop in a cam as aggressive as the stock lb9 cam is on the 305.
I know the t5 g92 n10 lb9 cars had a relatively aggressive cam for the time, but i do not know its specifics. I have read that is is similar to the l98 cam so in theory an lt4 hot cam might be similar in an l98?
I would like to leave the l98 cosmetically stock but am open to internal upgrades if need be, ie rockers, springs etc.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Re: 89 lb9 to l98 cam question
An LT4 is much different/bigger than any of the L98's. Myself, I'd try to find an L98 out of a Y body, as they were the "hottest", and call it done. We know that's good for 30 HP. I'm guessing much more than that and the heads start to be the bottleneck.

You don't want the Lt4 hot cam. You will need lots of tuning to make that work and the lift is too high for the stock springs anyway.
