Engine Sensors

Where are the engine temperature sensors on the car? And where does it connect to on the engine itself? Pictures would be helpful if anyone has any.

Re: Engine Sensors

Depends on what specific engine. Some coolant temp sensors are in the head. I know TBI engines have them in the front crossover of the intake. TPI engines may be different.

It's a 305 with a carb. Block numbers said it was a 80-85 motor.

Re: Engine Sensors

The year of the motor doesn't matter.

The gauge sensor is in the driver's side head between the #1 & #3 spark plugs.

The CTS for the computer is in the water outlet.

The fan switch is in the pass side head between the #6 # #8 plugs (same hole as the gauge sender except that the head is turned the other way)

Re: Engine Sensors

Since someone swaped your car to a carb, who knows if those wires are still there.

Go get some sensors form the parts store, then look for plugs that match, the wires may be tucked up somewhere or just hanging down, or chopped off.

One of the reasons I dislike carb swaps.
