HELP ME PLZ 350 questions
well hellow guys
i had a post up a few days ago about my 305 but it turned out that i was not going to get what i wanted with a 305 so i went and got a 350. i got a crazzy good deal on it i went to a machine shop and asked around and i found a 350 that was bored over 0.30 it was line honed they resurfaced the block they mag and grinned the crank witch i have (14088526) is the casting number R0.10M0.10 it was also balanced. the pistons that it came with i have no idea about the guy said they where every expensive they are Hypereutectic aluminum what ever that means the number on the top is (h345ncp 030) the con rods are Hypereutectic as well. the casting number for the block is 14093681 i know that its a 4 bolt main. im going to use the tbi from my 305 on the 350 i fell like it will make my life ezer that way. here is where my questions start, should i get new heads? can i get away with the 305 heads and still have good HP? o and the 305 is all stock out of a 92 Fbird. can i get away with using the 305 cam? do i need headers right now? can i put duel exhaust on my 92 Fbird. if i need new heads what are some good heads, if i need a new cam what are some good cams? thanks guys for your time

Here's what the pistons are, except these are the newer "upgraded" version, which cost more nowadays.

The older "N" version didn't have the special shape or the skirt coating.
I guess "expensive" is in the eye of the beholder... to a "rebuilder", anything above a Badger or similar $5 cast replacement phone company van piston is "expensive". IMO, that's the most basic possible piston that anybody could ever consider "performance"; somewhat less than a half-step above stock. But, a good solid choice for what you're doing, which sounds like pretty much yerbasic stock rebuild, so that's good; just don't let him get you all starry-eyed over it.
There's no such thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eutectic_system Here's what the word actually means.
Never heard of that number. (not that I've necessarily heard em all; but, still) You sure it's not the same # as everybody else's L05 block, which is 14093638?
Doesn't matter. See "starry-eyed" above.
Don't do that. It will deliver approximately 15% too little fuel at all times. It will run weak especially at full throttle, run terrible when cold, spit and sputter under heavier loads such as going up hills, etc. etc. etc. You will hate it. Instead, do it RIGHT; at least, get the TBI unit off of a 350 (truck or Caprice). It'll bolt right on but will deliver more nearly the right amount of fuel for a 350.
Depends on your definitions of "get away with" and "good". Consider that the same head design, except with larger valves, was used on the TBI 350s, and those (193 is the casting #) put out 210 HP. Your heads (187 casting), having smaller valves than those, will support somewhat less than that. If you consider some HP level below 210 "good", then, yeah. Otherwise, not so much.
Same cam as came in that 210 HP stock 350. Stick that cam and your 305 heads on that short block, you'll be lucky to break 200 HP. If that's consistent with your goals, then go ahead. If you're looking for more than that, ... you do the math.
YES!!!
You need every single piece of the exhaust, starting at the heads and going all the way to the street. Get GOOD QUALITY headers, preferably stainless steel, and preferably ceramic-coated. Get ones SPECIFICALLY designed for this chassis (82-92 Camaro/Firebird), BUT NOT FOR the L03. Instead, get ones for something like a 89 350 TPI. Stainless, ceramic-coated.
Depends on your definition of "put". Frankly, the extra weight will probably slow the car down more than the "dual" aspect will speed it up. I'd suggest instead, a good quality direct-fit cat such as Catco, and one of the good-quality aftermarket exhaust systems from Hooker, Blowmaster, Edelbrock, Borla, etc. etc. etc. NOT "custom", and once again, NOT for L03. Look for ones with a 3" I-pipe.
What's your budget? (don't say "cheep", don't say "as little as possible", the only correct answer is a NUMBER backed up by a BANK ACCOUNT or WAD OF CASH)
I'd suggest the Comp "500" series; 08-500-8, 08-501-8, etc. Unless you have good tuning skills and/or have PROM burning eqpt or are willing to buy aftermarket facilities such as EBL, the "501" grind is probably all you need to bite off on.
