305 swap to 383
89 iroc. 305 TBI 5 speed. Purchased a 87-95 350 2 bolt main.
Has been bored .30 over brand new heads with roller rocker.
What's a good rotating assembly to buy for a 383. Looking to keep
it on pump fuel for a weekend cruiser. What can I keep from the 305
before I part it out? Any info would be appreciated. I'm 22 and my father
is going to help me build this. He's been a mechanic for 40 years. I wanna
learn a few thing so I can have an understanding before going into this
so I know what to expect.

Start a new thread in the Engine dept
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech-general-engine/
with a tittle like 383 build recommendation
Going to have to give a lot more info like your budget, etc
And factor in a new trans as well because the T5 won't last long behind any 383
Or you could do a search and read the many previous answers to your questions

Re: 305 swap to 383
Open book. Not lookin to go crazy on the price
but I'd drop a few grand for a decent motor with 400 to
450hp. 6500 rpm range. It's going to be a weekend driver.
so if it take a a few months to build it properly by all means no
biggie.

Re: 305 swap to 383
As far as the t-5 goes. We have a new transmission
my dad got. Not sure what it is but I payed around 2200 for it.
so I'm thinking its a good one since my dad recommend it for the 383
