hey guys this is my first time posting but got a few questions. after rattling it around I think im wanting to swap a a 5.7 vortec with a t56 tranny into my 84 z28 its got the stock 305 and t5 5speed now so im expecting a pretty easy swap other than tranny crossmember. my questions are will my motor mounts work, do I need to change oil pan? and what all to convert to carb. also lookin for opinions on the swap. thanks in advance

 

the engine mounts you have will bolt right to the vortech block. the t-56 swap has been beaten to death at this point with threads on exactly how to do it and what is needed.
the carb conversion has also been beaten to death on here. but the short/simple list of things youll need is:

a carb intake for the vortech engine
a carb
an hei distributor
a return style fuel regulator if your car was originally fuel injected
appropriate linkages/throttle cables
an inspection station in an area that loosely enforces smog laws

 

Yup; identical the same

A truck pan won't fit; you'll need a pan from a 86-up F body.

The motor, needs an intake, dist, and carb. The car, depends on what's in it now.
