Need Advice for daily drivers in N. Carolina
I bought a running 1990 L05 truck longblock (Flexplate included and modded intake) and its going to be carbed like the 305 was. My question is that my 86 Camaro was originally fitted with the 305 tuned port engine, did all thirdgen v8 cars come equipped with the A.I.R pump and is it illegal to change from TPI to a non ecm controlled carb in North Carolina? I need to know before i decide upgrading the intake (aftermaket spreadbore or TPI all together) and cam also my safety inspection is due around December.

Yes it is illegal to remove any emissions stuff. But here in NC, most inspectors probably won't care. When getting it inspected, try to make it as legal as possible, but I don't they will fail you for a few missing things.

well that part will be easy i know for sure i need a cat and vapor canister but i was concerned if they make a big deal going from fuel injection to carb since finding a tpi system lying around will be the hardest task to do since i may end up driving across the state to find one
