Car: v8 s10 and a stock 1989 firebird
Engine: s10 is 355 firebird is 305
Transmission: 700r4 full man valve body in s10
Axle/Gears: 3.55 in s10 2.73 in firebird
tbi vs. mild cam

i did some looking and i have found people that say yea no problem and some that say no it wont run lol
so the question remains.....
i have a 1989 firebird tbi 305 and i just built a 355 with comps biggest 4x4 cam in it new springs new retainers so on and so on 882 heads (yes i know) flat tops stage 2 rods good for 500 hp new crank so on so on any way the cam is a 489/501 lift and 274 duration i was kinda liking my tbi because this engine is in my s10 now and tbi is just so nice on cold mornings i was thinkin ac heat four seats and a good sound with fuel injection and come lope best of all worlds but im wonderin how the tbi will take that cam? let me say first off ive ran carbs my whole life and lets assume I KNOW NOTHIN OF THIS MAGIC INJECTION any help will be great and

what would be the side effects? would it not run or would it not idle or could it be livable? i will eventually put a carb on it im sure but i was wonderin if it would be livable to drive for maybe a year or so untill i finish the rearend and th350 turbo w/stall ect..

If it will idle, it will be pig-rich, and then at higher RPM those LO3 injectors won't supply enough fuel, and that TB won't flow enough air. A custom chip could get a 2-steps-smaller cam to idle decently, but you still won't get enough fuel, even if you swap the TBI from a 454.

What numbers are we looking at? TBI can be set up for some decent hp, from my experience it is mandatory to have EBL flash to tune and run a custom TBI engine.
