Planning for my GM 350 build for my 92 RS
Hi, so I'm just starting college, and thanks to loans and various other methods of paying for it, I think I am going to be able to manage being able to build my very own 350 engine for my Camaro.
So, my Camaro I have right now is the 1992 Camaro RS with the 305 V8 and the TBI injection, the ECM module and the 700R4 transmission.
I want to build a 350 engine for it, but I want to be sure the 350 block will fit into my car, also I don't know how to swap from a TBI system with the ECM to a carbureted engine, without the ecm in the car I have been told that the torque converter wont lock up correctly and that my distributor won't work. I was hoping someone could give me some info on how to make this a successful swap. Also how much money on average do you think it will cost? Not using cheap parts either. Thanks a ton.

For a performace engine, at least $5k. Buy a vacuum advance distributor and you'll need a fuel pressure regulator to run a carb. Look through the tech articles (you can get to them from the home page), youll find answers there

Any 350 small block from 1969 to 1999 will fit. Just don't get a Gen II 350 (LT1). The most common source for a 350 block is light trucks. Sticking with '86-'95 is probably your best bet, although the '96-'99 "Vortec" 350 isn't a bad idea.

My build ran about 6k, no corners cut, also switched to TPI and went full roller.

For what ?
If doing a carb swap as the OP is ,you are deleting wires from the stock TBI harness
FWIW,
Other than gauge wiring ( not needed to make the engine run )
a carb engine only needs a wire to the starter , the coil , and the fuel pump if elec
