Crate engine casting number location.

My Camaro has a crate 350 engine, but they made about a hundred types of this engine and I'm not sure which specific one is in the car. I know the casting number should tell me specifically which engine it is. Problem is, I don't know where to find the casting number. To look at it will I need to remove or dismantle anything?

I want to learn the specific engine because it's generally good to know these things, and I'd like to know a rough horsepower rating of the engine.

Thanks a bunch!

The casting # is at the rear of the block ( could be either side depending on year ) but that will only tell you the cubes
Any particular block casting # could have been used for many different engines ;
truck , reg car or perf use depending on what other pars ( heads / cam / etc ) were installed.

The casting number is generally found on the driver side of the back of the block, right by the bell housing. It will be to the side of the distributor. You shouldn't need to take anything apart, but if you've been leaking oil, you may need to do some cleaning to read it.

There may be codes stamped on the block pad above the water pump that will give
you better info as to what you actually have.
Crate engines generally have a code starting with C
If you have a partial VIN as shown in the pic then it is not a crate engine but a engine that was installed in a vehicle at the factory
