92 RS 305 Swap to 383 Stroker
I have a lot of questions about my camaro. It's a 1992 Camaro with the auto 305 V8 5.0 and I'm curious what my car is capable of. First off, I plan on building a 383 Stroker and buying the block from Summit to start off. If I were to do so, would it fit in the RS? I plan to build 400-450hp or at least 400hp to the rear wheels. I have questions on the car itself. How would the transmission hold up? What other parts should I buy to keep the motor from causing the rest of the car problems? I'm really curious before I start building this. I would enjoy all the help and professional knowledge I can accumulate as possible in the next month. Basically my question is, "How can I build a 383 Stroker to fit in a 92 RS while also having some reliability and the rest of the car such as transmission etc. to hold the horsepower down." If there is an article I could read about this, that'd be great! Thanks!

You can't just put in a 383 stroker that makes 400 HP, you need to upgrade EVERYTHING else. None of the stock drive train is going to last 5 minutes with that much power. The 700R4 will be reduced to a device that turns clutch bands into dust and the 10 bolt will be reduced to a pile of metal that formerly was some gears & such.
You need a good high performance transmission to hold that kind of power and a good solid rear end behind that.
You will also need to beef up the chassis to keep it from turning into a pretzel once you get everything else working.
And whenever you're upgrading the go fast potential of a car, I think its a good idea to upgrade the suspension and brakes as well. If you are going to try to go fast you should be able to maneuver and stop fast too, unless this is a dedicated strip car.

I'm wanting to build a 383 as a daily and every once in awhile smash it on the highway. What transmission, drive train, and anything else would it need to be capable of that power?

This transmission says its good to 525 horsepower:

I've never done one, but if you don't plan on a lot of hard launches I've heard a built 10 bolt could handle the power possibly.
This site has a lot of good parts for F-bodies too. http://www.spohn.net/shop/1982-1992-GM-F-Body/

Old age ; speed costs ; how fast can you afford to go ?
Most newbies on here like you "want 500Hp " for no other reason than to say they have 500hp
and want it all for under $1K
They have no idea what driving a 500Hp engine on the street is like ; as in do you want your engine to idle while sitting
at the lights on your DD ?
How much you prepared to spend on gas a week just to get to work / skool / ,,,,,,,,,,?
