Few questions about swapping an engine from an 1988 camaro
I have a 1988 camaro that has a 2.8 v6. I want to swap out the engine to something a little bit better. i want to put a 305 from a 86 trans am in the car i found a few engines for pretty cheap. I was wondering what i have to change on the car to put that engine in. Do you i have to get a different transmission? also would there be anything special i have to buy or look out for? - thanks
Re: Few questions about swapping an engine from an 1988 camaro
it's a bit of a project, but actually not that bad.
the rear gear ratio will be a bit high, but it'll work
yes you should swap the transmission too
your front end ends up sagging a bit too; v8s got heavier front springs, but it's not a big deal
just keep in mind the little things; rad hoses, fuel lines, ground points, TONS of stuff is different.
a wrecked donor car is best so it doesnt nickel-and-dime you to death
