engine swap questions
I just recently purchased a used, strong running goodwrench 350 off a guy on Craigslist for pretty cheap and I was just wondering if you guys could help me out. Im swapping out my 2.8 and I just want to double check that I am ordering the correct parts.. I have read the v6 to v8 swap thread and im still confused on a few details so bear with me please!
Will my 2.8 Chassis side engine mounts work for the 350? I know the v8 mounts are mounted slightly forward compared to the v6 mounts im just unsure of the interchangeability. The clam shell part of the mounts I do have. could I go with these Polyurethane mounts?

I just need to clarify on a couple other things.. the T-5 runs a 10.5 inch clutch correct? could I run this flywheel with this clutch?

Clutch http://www.summitracing.com/parts/zzz-mu56-1
My block has 3 holes for the starter, that being said can I use any inline 153 tooth flywheel mini starter?

I appreciate any help guys, this is honestly one of the most informative forums I have been on. cant wait to finally have a vehicle with over 95HP.. Thanks!

Re: engine swap questions
Yes, you can use those mounts
If your 350 has a 2pc RMS, that flywheel will work
The clutch disk/PP kit will not work with your V6 T5. The V6 T5 uses a 14sp input while V8 versions use a 26sp input. Internal gearing is different for both, so you cant simply change the one part. I do recall some early 90's astro vans with the 4.3/T5 used a 10.5" clutch with a 14sp input shaft. Check before you buy
Any SBC starter for a 153 tooth flywheel will work
Dont forget you need a new bellhousing, wouldnt hurt to swap the trans out for a V8 unit. Remember how fragile the T5's are, V6's are even worse

Re: engine swap questions
Yes my 350 is a 2pc RMS
I do have a v8 t-5 from an 87 camaro that I will be swapping in. I was actually lucky enough to get a mechanical v8 t-5 bell housing for free from my brother! so I will not need to switch my whole setup to hydraulic. This clutch will work with my non world class 26 spline t-5?
so just to clarify I can use the 28 v6 chassis side of the mount and just move it forward?
Is there anything im missing? that is drive-train and mounting wise? the bell housing has the clutch fork, is there any other part that i need? If I can reuse the v6 chassis mounts im going to get the ball rolling on my swap and hopefully it will be done after one long weekend! Thanks for the info I can not wait to start wrenching!

Re: engine swap questions
The reason why im so skeptical about using the chassis side of the v6 mounts is because I talked to this guy I work with (the best mechanic ive ever met) found out that they used my v6 mount in some front wheel drive cars. This made me doubt that they would work on a v8. Thoughts?
