Engine Swap Soon
So the engine in my 1991 TA is starting to go bad, it has 205k on it and its starting to blow seals and makes a real bad noise. I have been keeping up with the repairs best i could but i dont want to keep doing it. Just looking for advice on an engine swap. I wanted to put a 5.3 or 5.7 in it and i dont really mind if i buy a pre built or build it myself. Its a daily driver so i dont want anything to crazy just looking for 300hp or more i wanted to do it on a budget with only spending around 2k at most 3k. Really dont know where to start with this sort of thing, it has a high HP tranny in it already capable of 700hp so i dont think i need to replace that. Looking for a carb build. I have been looking around on the internet and i cant seem to find a build list and i dont want to throw together a bunch of mismatched parts if i dont know if they will work well together or not. Really need advice, thanks in advance, also more than likely i thought about getting a junk yard block from the upullit so if that's possible then please let me know the year and model vehicle i could pull one from. All the v8 cars get picked clean real quick so more than likely it would have to be a truck block. Either way i will document my engine swap and probably post pics as i'm doing it.

If you're in/close to Kansas, I have a good block for sale.
355, flat top pistons, doesn't need machine work, 4 bolt main, 416 heads milled .010 and an eddy performer rpm intake. Pulled due to leaky RMS and valve seals 36k miles

Re: Engine Swap Soon
Well that might be a good option, I'm in Omaha Nebraska so it wouldn't be too bad of a drive, I'll think about it. What where you looking to get out of it?

That 5 hour drive kinda sucks, had to do it a couple times visiting someone. Man, yalls light system downtown is screwy as hell!
Anyway, I was lookin to get 600 for everything. I have a box of new umbrella seals, as well as a starter and alternator (if ya want em) for a v-belt.
Checked out the rods today too, new rod bearings wouldn't hurt. Wasn't making ANY noise er issues, was pulled and holding 55 psi oil pressure @60. They have .015 side to side play, zero up and down.
I'll send ya a pm
