LS EFI on Gen1 block / 700r4 questions

Got a project i want to try...
77 Camaro Stripped down

99 Vortec Block, All stock rotating assembly balanced and block was decked for 9.6ish CR
Vortec heads modified, 2.02 valves, 1.6 exhaust. Exhaust ported, Intake polished and minor porting to get rid of casting imperfections
Cam = Still debating....
1.5 or 1.6 full roller rockers i have a set of both, Going to go with guide plates.
Intake i got a WND-7542 From summits scratch and dent sale (Ordered never used box was jacked up but its in good shape.

Going with EFI Connections 24x Kit so i can use a LS1 ECM
Now my questions begin.

First, Should i use Stock ECM (Can get ahold of one for around 50-100$ pretty easily)
Or should i go aftermarket?

If i go with stock, Ill be using a 700r4 with shift kit and built for some power. I would want to switch the ECM to think its a Manual and set aftermarket TCC. for a speedo I was just going to use a GPS with custom Gauge cluster (aftermarket)

Fuel Vent controls going to be a issue? as the car will have a return but no control over vent.

Fuel rails im going to make my own, Aftermarket regulator and 24ib/hr (as i only plan on around 400-425 Flywheel hp)

Going to use a bored 87 TB so ican use manual cable and not Drive by wire.

I got this planned and even have most parts to it but its honestly going to be a year or two long project in my down time.

As it stands now parts i have.
Block,
Rotating Assembly,
Heads (Assembled with Hotcam Springs atm that might change depending on cam i go with)
LS1 Truck coils (x12 from junk yard)
LS1 Factory injectors / fuel rail.
Intake
700r4 Shift kit, Completely upgraded for 650-700hp hp(got a good deal on it freshly built and been sitting for years)
Rolling shell 77 Camaro with Brand new front end (everything) and built 10bolt.

Im thinking what i will need is going to be.....
EFI Connections 24x kit for the Timing cover and double roller chain reluctor wheel / sensor
LS1 ECM (Or aftermarket depending on what i find out during research over the next 4-5 months)
Custom Fuel rails and System (Going to drop the tank and make a custom Sender unit to put back up in, Maybe ill need to add a vent control??)
Tuner / software

The wiring harness i plan on making custom, As this car has only the headlight / Brake light / Turn signal Circuits. Ill make it once i have motors / trans back in and make everything to fit. ECM will be under dash not under the hood.

Any input is appreciated. Doing this not to be cost effective but just really as a learning experiment. Hopefully i can do it on a budget as i do have tons of GM parts laying around and access to junkyard parts near free

Re: LS EFI on Gen1 block / 700r4 questions

Stock ls1 fbody ecm

No issues with fuel tank, run a vent but dont need to control it. Do need an intank electric pump and relay wired to ecm for control

Try a mechanical speedo and use speedo gears in trans like the thirdgens do. That should be easier to do than vss but i think you could use thirdgen vss like the electronic speedo cars used in 91-92 i think

Use oem plastic timing cover. Double roller will clear it. I know rollmaster does

Try to use ls1 tb from fbody. It is cable driven

Your list is pretty good

I strongly suggest using a 4L60E in place of the 700R4, but your plan is sound

I was told its not as smooth running without a proper vSS signal from the transmission. I only did the 4x conversion tho.

Oh. The 24x and coils are really nice but that setup will work

The engine tends to stall when coming to a stop without a VSS

I got a th400 in mine. Uses factory cable drive speedo and gets vss from there but i swapped in a friends th400 that has no speedo gears and it worked fine for me

Man I wish I knew that. My 700 shifts great and is a low mileage unit. I ended up spending more coin then I had at the time to build a decent 60e. Oh well. Spares...

I also have a semi stock build. Nothing fancy
