l31 swap starter problem

Hello
im in the process of doing the l31 swap in my 89 camaro and have run into a problem with the starter. The stock starter don't seem to fit. Do i need to use something different? Do i need a different flex plate and starter. Im lost, could anyone help shed some light on this..

Re: l31 swap starter problem

they used the larger ring gear flexplate in the trucks, so you need a starter for the larger ring gear... or if you still have the flexplate off your stock engine, you could put that on the new engine and use your stock starter.
