anyone try the holley systemax system yet?
just want to know what they are like from the ones that use it
The Systemax consists of heads, valvetrain, cam right?
Ive never used the heads, but a friend did and he seems satisfied. The cam seems to be an old style single pattern grind, IIRC. You'd be better off going with one of the CompCams XE series instead. Im guessing your asking about using this on a 350 or 383 you've talked about building? If your asking about using it on a 305, I wouldn't do it. That cam's a bit much for a street 305 and the heads will put your CR in the toilet. You actually need more compression with aluminum heads due to extra heat loss.
Which motor are you asking about befor I type anymore?

I stand corrected about the cam specs. It looks to me like a pretty good performance grind, probably will lope a little at idle but shouldn't be too bad with the fast bleed lifters. I think you can count on ditching the computer, so find a new carb and distributor too. I would call their tech suppoort and ask how that cam will do with a stock torque converter, and if it will affect power accessories. You'll also want to run headers. Your gas mileage will probably suffer too.
Just some stuff to consider before you spend your money I guess. I got my first firebird when I was 17 and i built an engine a lot like the one your describing and drove it everyday. I spent a ton on gas, and couldn't drive around town in traffic much because i lost a lot of my low-end. i also spent a lot of cash on upgrading the rest of the car to match the drivetrain. i had to work my *** off all summer to pay for the stuff and only got to the strip twice. In the end I would have been better off just driving the car and enjoying it and upgrading slowly. have fun in whatever you choose to do.
