What is a 4.1 vortech? I've heard of the 4.3 of course that came in all the Blazers and s-10's, is that what you are talking about? Search the archives you'll find plenty on this topic, in my opinion, its not worth it, go to a V8 and save yourself a lot of trouble. Wait, check that, just go buy a car with the V8 already in it
excuse me 4.3, i do alotttttttt of highway miles and my 2.8 has a well deserved 188,000 on it. i think i would have to get another gas card to go along with a new v-8.
anyway i will look for the related messages and
see if this is going to be a headache, or another project.
anybody with some positive replys ??????????????///

4.3 is not an easy engine to swap in there .Your best bet would be a 3.4 !!! And you will be VERY happy with it ....Go on the V6 board and ask Karl about it ..ask him about his "3.4 swap boogie" goodluck , Wayne

Wayne is correct. If you want a v8 caar, is more practical to get oa car with one in already. If you want to keep this caar and are looking for more power, do the 3.4 thang.
Unless you really want to be different & swap out an 8 for the 4.3.

re 2.8 out and 4.3 in
the vortech i'm putting in is a v6 , your right..... if i want to install a v8 , i might as well buy another car....

you could always get a rolling chassis, a car that used to have an eight, but now has no motor. The 4.3 will bolt right up. just make sure you get the engine wiring harness & ecm from the blazer. is the 4.3 CPI or TBI. if it is TBI, save up for a vortech supercharger, then you'll really have an awsome car
Not too much go fast godies for the CPI, my 95 blazer has it, so I know first hand.

89' S-10's didn't have the vortech engine, just the simple TBI 4.3 that was 30 hp shy of the vortech. I believe the Vortech was offered beggining in 92', maybe 93'. Listen man, if it were me, I'd stay away from the swap. You CAN get great drivablility and reliability out of a V8 car for your highway driving. Get a common LO3 Bird or Camaro and you'll get tons of miles out of it and still average 23 mpg on the highway. It'll also probably be much faster than most V6's you would try to swap in, as well as easier on your patience.

Ah, yes Tas, you are so right, my bad. I DO mean Vortec for all my replies here, maybe I'm just dreaming of the Vortech engine GM never built.
Wouldn't that be something
