1990 build

Next week ill be the owner of a 1990 camaro body and im wanting to put a 350 in it. Im just wondering what where i could get the best crate motor for the money. I want a decent amount of power nothing too crazy and im thinking i want it to be a carb. But im not exactlly sure which would be easiest.

*I dont need the most expensive stuff out there

Re: 1990 build

In that state, go get a 5.3 or 6.0 pullout at the boneyard out of a truck. Silverado, Sierra, Escalade, Avalanche, Tahoe, Denali, etc. Engine, trans, computer, harness, EVERYTHING you can possibly get. Whole vehicle in your driveway rather than parts at the buzard would be best if possible. NO WAY you can buy all the stuff you'll need, starting out from dead nothing, for ANYWHERE NEAR as cheeeeeeep as that way.

Next cheeeeeeepest way will be a 5.7 LSx pullout from a 98 - 02 Camaro or Firebird. After that, same thing from a Vette, except that the trans will not work, not even close.

Sofa is right.....if you want to do it reasonably drag home a complete wrecked vehicle and part it all onto your vehicle.....it is the cheapest route and your neighbors will love it.

Re: 1990 build

Basically what i want is to put a new (or close to it) engine and transmission in this car but im not too sure where to start. I cant describe too much of what wiring or anyof that is there since i wont actually be picking the car up till next week. Im pretty positive there was a 305 in there before. This will be the first car ive ever built so i want it to last. (Ive got a few friends that have built motors and done engine swaps)

I want to go carb because ive heard its alot easier but I dont know.
So if you guys know any links, book, or videos that provide step by step on what to do thatd be very helpful and also ideas on what you would do if it was your project
