89 tbi out of gmc jimmy in 86 TA
Hey guys
I just got a free, running 350 out of a 89 full size jimmy. I want to replace my now seized carbed 305 LG4. I want to keep it carb. Car is an 86 trans am 700r4 auto. Currently all stock. Its my DAILY DRIVER. Want more power but keep it daily driver. Does not need to pass emissions. I have headers. 3" exhaust. And want to use my fresh rebuild #416 heads and my factory quadrajet. Oh. It's a 2.73 rear. It will go on hiway. Thanks

The only issue bolting things up will be the center two intake manifold mount bolt holes on each side will be at a different angle on the '89 than they were on the '86. You can either get an '87-up q-jet intake manifold (arguably a Performer is a little better than the factory intake), or elongate those two bolt holes on each side of the '86 intake so the bolts will screw into the heads.
The 416 heads are a decent choice. The '89 will have dished pistons (from the factory, anyway), and the smaller chambers of the 416s will up the compression a tad.
If the 350 still has the knock sensor in the right side of the block, that's a good thing. You should get a 350 knock sensor module to go with it (the one from the Jimmy should work, it you can get it).

Re: 89 tbi out of gmc jimmy in 86 TA
It came with harness , sensors. Comupter. Its just tbi. I have a performer rpm intake Thats new never got used. Doing timing chain would like to do cam while already in the motor. What would you recommend for can? In the end I'll have 3" headers back. Have different hangers and rods for carb. Going with prob 3.23 rear so I can highway drive. 2,800 stall?? Shift kit it's on factory wheels with 245/60/16. Came with them. Anything else?? I think I have it but Want to make sure. Old car I thought. And was in motor dozen times. Thank you for your help much appreciated.
