Will the Intake fit????
Will the Intake fit????
Hello, I have an 1988 iroc z camaro with a 5.0 multi port. I need an engine swap and I was wondering if that intake would fit onto a long block crate engine that's a 5.7? Would it be cheaper to go up or stay the same??? Please help. Thank you
The engine is blowing blue smoke if your wondering.

Re: Will the Intake fit????
Depends on the heads on the long block.
If they're 87-up, yes. 86-back, not quite; you'd have to elongate the center 2 intake bolt holes on each side.
Why not just fix the blue smoke problem and be done with it? (valve guide seals) Seems kinda a waste to swap a whole motor for that... using a battery of artillery to swat a mosquito.

Truthfully if you are worried about screwing up changing valve seals, then how are you going to swap an engine?
A lot more that can be screwed up when doing an engine swap.
Valve seals are under $30 and might take you the better part of a Saturday to do. If you screw up, no big deal right, you are planning to swap engine anyway. You are out 30 bucks and a saturday.
An engine swap is $1,000 to 3,000 or more and with a newbie maybe 2 or 3 weeks of work.

Re: Will the Intake fit????
blue smoke is as good a reason as any to ditch a 305 and put a 350 in it's place...
yes, the intake will bolt up to the 350 and it will run. if it has older style heads, you will need to do a little die grinder work on the center 2 holes on each side of the intake. if you put a 96-99 vortec engine in it- which would be the best idea here- then you'd need to get a different intake base, which adds a few hundred dollars to the overall cost.
