i blew out the 3rd and 4th clutch pacs in my firebird now im installing a used tranny out of a monte carlo and plan on using an older non computer engine my question is will i have any issues with that or can i just rip the ecm right out
If this is an LG4 and the 350 is relatively tame you can install the new motor under your existing computer controlled system, re-using everything hooked up to the old motor. It will likely require some adjustments to the carburetor to get it back in its happy range, but the amount of effort and time to do this is still substantially less than that required to tune a new carb/dist combo, at least IMO.
im getting a full engine ready to drop in i just want to know since its a pre computer motor will i have no problem running without the ecm system
You'll have to define 'problem'. I'd consider it a 'problem' having to purchase additional parts such as the carburetor and distributor and wire in an alternate method of converter lock. Especially if the existing carb/dist is functioning well. I might also consider it a 'problem' if, after installing these new parts, I got less than optimal mileage and driveability.
If, however, my existing system was fubar I may consider the above to be a 'solution'.
